Recently we have been invited to disassemble the older Front-Ends ever used in the Westerbork Radio Telescope Array. An excellent opportunity to learn more of the technology used in those Front-Ends. Lots of fine techniques has been used over say 20 to 30 years, like CRYO cooled pre-amplifiers, parametric amplifiers including Gunn oscillators, pinswitches, etc.

Many off the shelf products were used and are still very interesting for us, radio amateurs.
